Welcome

Welcome to the Crawley and Horsham website.

The Hunt has existed for many years and the date of its beginning cannot be clearly ascertained.  A pack known as Mr Standford’s hounds had kennels first at Warniglid and afterwards at Staplefield, whence in 1877 the hounds were moved to their new kennels at West Grinstead, where they remained until 2021.

Our hounds then moved to livery with the South Down & Eridge hounds, marking a new era for the Crawley & Horsham Hunt. With much hard work, dedication and support from the Masters, the Hunt Board, the team behind the scenes, and of course not forgetting our very generous landowners who welcome us onto their land, there followed 4 years of successful trail hunting. The Crawley & Horsham has gone from strength to strength and provided so many fun days trail hunting behind our wonderful hounds.
But as with everything in life, things do not stand still and we keep looking to the future.  The Masters and Directors of the hunt continually strive to establish as sustainable a future as possible for our hunt and our hounds in what is a very uncertain world.    As part of this ongoing review by the Hunt Board  and Masters, it was concluded that the time was right for a change in association from the MFHA/BHSA to the Masters of Draghounds & Bloodhounds Association (MDBA). Combined with our change in association, the 2025/26 season also sees our hounds moving on to livery at Felbridge; a move we are all very excited about.
The 2025/26 season also sees the introduction of a new membership and subscription structure, including non-mounted membership for our dedicated foot followers and supporters, as well as the pay-as-you-go option for mounted visitors.
